Palliative care for cancer patients through Ayurveda and Indian classical music

Out of all patients in need of palliative care only 14% of the patients are receiving palliative care globally. Lack of awareness, availability , national policies of restrictions on certain medications and lack of medical facilities are few reasons contributing to it.

Out of all patients, 34% are cancer patients who are in need of palliative care. Cancer often takes toll on once physical, mental as well as emotional and spiritual health. Its diagnosis and whole treatment procedure is quite tiresome for family and caretakers too, along with patients.

Ayurveda is an ancient science where science meets spirituality. Consideration of holistic health of patients and caretakers is at the core of all Ayurvedic treatments. Music therapy based on Ayurveda principles works on not only mental health but it has also proven to work on some physical and psychosomatic ailments.
