Nadi svedana for musculoskeletal diseases

Nadi Svedana as a traditional Ayurvedic therapy can be of great help in relieving pain in joints, muscles and tendons while draining ama and nourishing body tissues. Nadi Svedana is a local steam treatment used as an adjunct therapy to the cleansing procedures known as pancakarma (deep cleansing and rejuvenation) or as an outpatient treatment as often as needed. During a session, a jet of herb-infused steam is directed at specific areas of the body, with medicinal oils vigorously massaged in beforehand or at the same time. This allows the herbal oils to penetrate deep into the tissues, stimulating circulation and eliminating ama.

Nadi Svedana is mainly used for excessive Vata and Kapha conditions, i.e. a variety of painful musculoskeletal disorders. Nadi Svedana is also suitable for the treatment of sports and other injuries, and is often better than ice alone after the acute first aid phase (within 24-48 hours after an injury). We like to use Nadi Svedana together with marma therapy, and especially for cervical and lumbar spine syndrome, chronic shoulder and knee pain, it can help joints to function again without pain.
