Dr. Geetha Krishnan Gopalakrishnan Pillai is a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner MD with 25 years of professional experience. In addition to his work at WHO, he has worked as an Ayurvedic physician, researcher, integrative medicine expert, administrator and policy advisor to governments. He also has experience in designing and setting up international advocacy platforms for traditional medicine, working with governments and non-state actors.
Dr. Krishnan is a researcher and clinician with expertise in integrative medicine and herbal medicine development. He is a key member of the AYUSH-based COVID 19 Task Force of the Government of India and has supported AYUSH on behalf of WHO in COVID clinical trials. At WHO, he is responsible for developing global assets to support norms and standards for traditional medicine (TM) systems such as Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, and Yoga, as well as data collection and impact assessment tools such as TM chapters for ICD.
