Prof. Dr. Tanuja Nesari

Prof. Dr. Tanuja Nesari zählt zu den führenden Persönlichkeiten des Ayurveda und der integrativen Medizin in Indien. Sie ist Direktorin des Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda (ITRA) in Jamnagar, einer der wichtigsten Einrichtungen für Ayurveda-Ausbildung, klinische Praxis und Forschung.

Zuvor war sie Direktorin des All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in Neu-Delhi, einer zentralen Institution des Ministry of Ayush und eines der wichtigsten akademischen und klinischen Referenzzentren für modernen Ayurveda. In dieser Funktion prägte sie maßgeblich die institutionelle Entwicklung des Hauses, den Aufbau interdisziplinärer Teams sowie die Erweiterung internationaler Kooperationen.

Seit über drei Jahrzehnten wirkt sie als Ärztin, Forscherin und akademische Leiterin an der Weiterentwicklung des Ayurveda. Ihre Arbeit berührt zentrale Themen des Ayurveda Symposium 2026, insbesondere die Integration traditioneller Medizinsysteme in moderne Gesundheitssysteme, evidenzbasierte Forschung zu chronischen Erkrankungen sowie die Weiterentwicklung der Ayurveda-Ausbildung.

Unter ihrer Leitung entstanden zahlreiche nationale und internationale Kooperationsvereinbarungen (MoUs), darunter auch Kooperationen im Umfeld des WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine (WHO-GCTM). Prof. Nesari betreute rund 100 Postgraduierten- und Promotionsarbeiten und veröffentlichte über 200 wissenschaftliche Arbeiten sowie mehrere Bücher, darunter das auf Deutsch erschienene „Ayurveda heilt.“
