The international gathering of experts provides important impetus in the fields of education, research, and practice in ayurvedic medicine. In 2019, the Symposium was supported by the Consulate General of India in Frankfurt. In addition, recognized professional associations and academic institutions stand aside as partners for this conference.

The International Ayurveda Symposium has firmly made its mark in the Ayurveda community’s annual event calendar: For the past 21 years, doctors, professors, therapists, as well as other Ayurveda professionals have come together in Birstein to meet at the expert congress of the European Academy of Ayurveda.

As in previous years, high-class speakers from India and Europe will present new findings from the Ayurveda research and clinical practice – an excellent platform for your further trainings to become an Ayurveda therapist or consultant. Choose from more than 40 live presentations, workshops, and expert panels to benefit from this knowledge in your daily practice.

Evening concert

Saturday’s evening concert has become a set date on the symposium’s calendar. Every year, Indian sounds create a true musical event at the congress. The artists in 2019 are:

Ravi Srinivasan (Tabla, Vocals, Whistling, Percussion)
Ravi Srinivasan plays worldwide with a wide variety of jazz, folk and world music artists, including Enkhjargal Dandarvaanchig, Soname Yangchen, Dotschy Reinhardt, Music Ensemble of Benares and Midnight Court. He also composes for film, dance and theatre and accompanies Indian Kathak dance and raga- Music.
Yogendra (Sitar & Vocals)
Yogendra grew up in the northern German border zone province and fell in love with Sitar as a teenager. This was followed by a good 25 years of study with important masters of North Indian raga music. Since the 80s he performs as a sitarist with classical ragas and teaches and publishes on Indian music.
Arun Leander (Accordion & Vocals)
Arun is the highly virtuoso scion of an Indian-English-Greek-German artist family at an early age. He plays the accordion, piano and tabla and has won several junior awards as an accordionist and composer. Until 2013 he attended the Musikgymnasium Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach for talented musical exceptional talent in Berlin.

Ayurveda nutrition as medicine for mental disorders

In this advanced training course, the internationally renowned expert for Ayurvedic nutrition and herbal therapy Prof. Dr. Tanuja Nesari explains how food becomes a remedy. Prof. Dr. Nesari will expand on the influence of nutrition on the mental and psychological well-being of people. In two intensive days, the participants will study selected dietary recommendations, forms of preparation and medicinal herbs that strengthen the emotional balance and can help with mental disorders such as depression, burnout, insomnia or memory disorders.

ShiroAbhyanga – Indian head massage

Ayurveda-Massage Shiro Abhyanga
The experienced Ayurveda therapist Amarjeet Bhamra from Great Britain opens new dimensions of Ayurveda massage. In his ShiroAbhyanga seminar, he leads into a deeply nourishing psycho-spiritual experience. This special form of therapy calms the Vata Dosha, nourishes and calms the nervous system, relieves stress and cleanses the mind and the senses of impressions. Ideally, the treated people improve their concentration and positive thinking, they feel more vital and stress resistant.
